How to Choose the Right Shade of Lipstick for Your Skin Coloring thumbnail
Selecting the most attractive color

Have you noticed how when someone is wearing the wrong shade of lip color they look terrible no matter how nice the outfit. Many women choose their lipstick color to match their outfit and it can be a disaster. There is a really easy way to choose what is best for you. Exercise a few simple steps and it is easy.

 Things You’ll Need

  • A mirror
  • Good lighting

Instructions

    • Wrong on left and right on right image

Bring your bottom lip down and look at the color. Your lipstick should be a shade that is as close as possible to that color. I studied this in make-up class in skin care school. This is the color that will look best with your complexion. Notice how the actress in the image here looks much better on the left. The color on the right is way to light for her. She does not look as attractive on the left. The color on the left is artificially light. Now one looks good in that color as it is way to far way from real skin tones.

      Too orange in color

The model in this image looks better but it is still too orange. The art of wearing lipstick is that it looks like real lips enhanced. These look artificial. The idea is enhancement of your beauty not neon.

Too light for her skin tones.

This lipstick is way too light for a woman of color. It is like she does not want to be who she is. She has lovely skin but that bright pink shine does not enhance her beauty. She would look better with her natural lips. This color takes away. She is beautiful but the lipstick is too glaring.

      Beautiful lips

This model looks gorgeous. Her lip color is exciting and enhances her lovely skin tones and she looks vibrant. Study some models and magazines and see what really works well. Keep in mind if a woman is beautiful it is hard to make her look bad with the wrong lipstick but the right one looks way better. For the rest of us we had better get it right not to look like clowns. I hope you enjoyed this!

Tips & Warnings

  • Really observe others for a few days to see what works.
  • Go through your cabinet of colors and be objective.
  • Don’t worry about the money you have wasted on the wrong products. Trade with a friend after cleaning off your lipsticks with an alcohol wipe. Help each other out.
